SOO OUK KIM, L.AC

SOO OUK KIM, L.AC

Acupuncturist Andrew (Soo Ouk) Kim holds an NCCAOM certification.

Since 2012, he has become an acupuncturist. He is from Korea.

He specialized in pain management with energy channel relaxation while he was living in Los Angeles, and as time went on, he improved at using a muscular motion technique. Acupuncture therapy and patient education were particularly effective in treating chronic neck pain, shoulder discomfort, low back pain, knee pain, and sciatica.

Later, he opened a clinic in the DC metro area and discovered that the majority of his patients had nutritional deficiencies, emotional issues, or chronic stiffness brought on by stress. He made the decision to add to the conventional eastern concept of the body using integrative experiences.

When contrasted with energy meridian theories, many international clients found it interesting to share their knowledge of their traditional methods of stress management. Along with his description of the muscle/energy complex approach, they also enjoyed reflecting on the lessons learned from prior treatments. Some folks found it interesting to hear about modern medical research and herbal remedies.

Since that time, his main objective has been to provide individuals with complete guidance by fusing eastern wisdom and western medical expertise, which would be like a harmonious Yin and Yang combination.

Kay H. says about DC AcuCare:

He was super professional and kind. He told me what he was doing every step of the way which was great because I’m new to acupuncture and cupping. He genuinely cares about helping you relieve tension and it felt great. I was super relaxed and very happy I went. I did acupuncture and machine cupping because that’s what he assessed as the best treatment for me based on my needs.

B A. reviews for Scarlet Oak Acupuncture – Georgetown:

Jill is an INCREDIBLE acupuncturist. She really takes her time with you and has an awesome overall calm and knowledgeable demeanor which is comforting.
She sits down with me before and after every session reviewing past discussions, improvements or changes in health, what I’m eating, whether and how I exercise, what supplements I am and should be taking, and even offers an essential oil scented eye cushion for added calmness during the session if desired. Her bed is warmed and she makes sure the room is dark and quiet so that I have a long restful experience. She is very responsive in answering questions between sessions and does her best to accommodate any scheduling concerns I may have. She really cares about her clients and her practice. She’s truly wonderful!!!!
I 200% recommend her.

Westhauser Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine

Westhauser Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine

Licensed and Board Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist with over 15 years of experience. Specializing in Dermatology.

Laura E. reviews for Westhauser Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine:

My psychiatrist recommended Kerri when I was looking for an alternative to surgery for my chronic nasal and sinus issues. I have to admit I’ve been skeptical about acupuncture because why would I want to lay on a bed with needles in me? When I spoke with Kerri on the phone, she told me that the acupuncture “needles” aren’t needles as much as they are pins. She was right, as I hardly felt the pins and was able to lie still for 30 minutes.

Everyone tolerates/feels pain differently, but from personal experience I can say that acupuncture is much easier than getting blood drawn. Unfortunately, neither the acupuncture nor herbs did not help my condition and I had to have surgery in November to correct my deviated septum and reduce my turbinates. However, I have returned to her for chronic ear pain. While acupuncture has not helped my sinus problems, there’s a chance it might help my ear pain. Kerri gets five stars for being super nice, easy to talk to, honest, and gentle.

She’s very realistic about what she can or cannot accomplish and does not drag treatment on longer than needed–something I appreciate in a provider because I don’t like to waste time or money with treatment that doesn’t work.

Healing Wisdom Medicine

Erin S. commented for Healing Wisdom Medicine:

I have been seeing Emily for 2 months now. She has been the ONLY medical professional to help me through my slow and difficult recovery resulting from a car accident in January. I have been suffering with a concussion, whiplash, intractable headache, muscle spasms, tremors, nausea, dizziness, body aches and pain… the list goes on. During my FIRST appointment with Emily, the acupuncture treatment was able to take away my pain for 1 hour. During that hour, I felt completely pain-free and felt “normal” again.

It was AMAZING! She is a true miracle worker!! I was afraid to try acupuncture before the car accident, but since I have undergone multiple intense treatments such as headache infusion therapy and occipital nerve blocks, all which did not help, I figured I might as well try acupunture too. The acupuncture pins are thinner than a safety pin–not scary at all 🙂 I am so happy I saw Emily on ZocDoc and scheduled my first appointment with her!

She has helped me not only with the pain, but also a holistic form of healing very different from Western medicinal methods: she treats your mind, body, and spirit. She has helped me be more confident and stronger through this difficult time in my life, and has also taught me how to listen to my heart. I am forever grateful to Emily. THANK YOU!!!
