Cafe Istanbul
Leslie G. says about Cafe Istanbul:
One of the best late night spots! I was so happy to see that there was a Mediterranean spot open late and tasted divine. I got the chicken shawarma plate and the chicken had so much flavor and the Toum sauce (garlic sauce) was amazing.
They had no more rice and gave fries instead but I wasn’t complaining because the amount of flavor that was in this dish satisfied me and I was sober when I ordered this at 2am so I know my taste pallets is valid. I would definitely go out of my way late at night if I were in the area to have a bite.

Tahini
Lam B. says about Tahini:
There’s a reason why this spot is Guy Fieri approved. Fresh Mediterranean food with a fun make-your-own option.
Parking wasn’t too difficult and they weren’t as crowded post lunch. We were swiftly taken care of by the woman manning the front, as she patiently recorded our unique creations and substitution for the Esquire. We waited around 10 minutes before the food was completed.
=SELECTION=
They offered three pre-set bowls, one in which was actually consumed by Guy Fieri himself. If the originals didn’t suit your fancy, you can build your own.Bases: pita sandwich ($8), rice bowl ($9), and salad ($9.50).
Protein: falafel ($1), chicken shawarma ($2), steak shawarma ($3).
Sauces: tahini, BBQ tahini, sriracha tahini, cilantro tahini, garlic sauce, cucumber yogurt.
Add-ons: lettuce, parsley mix, tomato, red onion, pickled cucumber, pickled turnips, shredded cheese, bell peppers, kalamata olives, pepperoncinis, toasted almonds ($.50), feta cheese ($.50).=YUM=
All of their add-ons were incredibly fresh. Tomatoes were fresh while the red onion and bell peppers retained their crunch. The pickled vegetables added some acidity and sweetness. Loved their sauces as they’re so distinct from one another yet remaining incredibly earthy. I suggest the tahini for a classic nutty flavor or the cilantro tahini for a similar style but with an herby bite.*Chicken Salad Bowl: crisp greens as the base with the chicken shawarma being the star. Personally my favorite protein of the three as it remained moist and flavorful. The chicken served as a great carrier for all of the spices within the marinade.
*Falafel Pita: warm, fluffy pita with a crusty exterior. The falafel was crunchy, spiced, and incredibly hot–the best I’ve had in SD. Went well with the cool cucumber yogurt. How stuffed the pita is depends on the person making it and I’ve been occasionally disappointed by the amount of filling.
*Esquire Pita: subbed chicken shawarma for steak shawarma. Steak was tender and juicy. The addition of fries was genius, adding some starch and crispiness. Well balanced with the vibrant vegetable mix with the slightly spicy garlic and sriracha tahini.
*Cinnamon Pita Chips: listed as $5 but we were charged $6 strangely. Crunchy fried pita chips coated in cinnamon, white chocolate and caramel. The chips were light and airy, with the toppings giving them a churro-like profile. Great sharable at the end of your meal.Tahini has served me food with robust flavors consistently, despite the pita fullness being varied. Still, if they were to bottle their sauces, I’d buy a jug since it’s truly that good. Great, light lunch option for those working nearby and unless you’re getting the pita, the taste and textures will survive the transport.

Hanna Garden
Kelli B. says about Hanna Garden:
Was searching for a new place to try for lunch and found this restaurant. WOW! The other reviews are correct – tasty, fresh, filling & worth the money. I got the Veggie plate – 4 each of Falafel & Dolmas, 1 small variation on spanakopita (Spinach pie with dough not phyllo) along with some hummus and a nice fresh salad and 3 wedges of the nicest thin pita bread. The falafel are light and flavourful – not dense hockey pucks.
The dolmas were tasty – not too tart. The salad dressing was bright and herby along with the crispy fresh lettuce with tomatoes and cucumbers nicely diced. The Hummus was a nice texture and spread well on the falafel & the pita bread.
I need to find these nice thin pita breads – not doughy thick like some other restaurants have. Great value of food for the price paid. Will come back to try some of the meat dishes – gotta try the chicken Shawarma & the beef Kafta Kabobs.
